Racking system collapses can sometimes lead to personnel suffering major injury or death. Prevention is always better than cure and is less expensive. Periodic rack safety inspections make good business sense.
How often do we need a rack inspection?
The PUWER Regulations (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) states that the inspection period should not exceed 12 months. Risc would recommend more frequent inspections, say, six-monthly where there is a racking/shelving installation within a particularly active operational warehouse.
At least an annual inspection is recommended, however in a busy environment, more frequent inspections may be required, (six monthly or even three monthly) can be carried out by our inspectors on request.
Why choose Teccon
Where there is a high degree of activity in the warehouse, it is important that racking inspections are carried out on a regular basis and an annual inspection by a qualified competent person is essential.
Teccon’s experienced inspectors Racking Inspection Safety Consultants (RISC) with over 25 years experience.
What’s involved?
While single inspections are available, by far the most economical method of inspection is through a maintenance contract. After you contact us we’ll arrange for an inspector to make an initial visit to provide a detailed assessment of your storage equipment, together with a cost to carry out an inspection for your maintenance contract on a regular basis.
After your inspection our racking inspection safety consultants will provide you with a full report which we will email to you after your inspection. We can also provide a hard copy of this document on request for your safekeeping.
What if we need remedial work to be done?
If required we can provide a no obligation quote to carry out repairs or remedial works require.
